Code4CT;Empowering young girls through coding
Code4CT is a program for high school girls, introducing them to coding, design thinking and various opportunities in the tech industry.
The organisation aims to equip young women entering the labor force with tech and problem solving skills in order to create a thriving, diverse and innovative environment in South Africa, with young South Africans able to define solutions to local challenges.
Through working on real life projects, engaging with female mentors and being exposed to a wide range of different tech companies, Code for Cape Town show girls that coding is creative; women can thrive in tech careers and that coding is a powerful tool for social impact.
they have to work on real life projects right from the start— Emma,Code4CT
The program ensures that girls have access to devices, connectivity and creative learning spaces; an enabling network of tutors and mentors; and bursaries and internships to be able to achieve the dreams the program inspires in them.
