Cape philanthropist launches children's book in a bid to give little hearts hope
Social activist and big wave surfer Greg Bertish will this week launch his children's book, The Little Optimist.
The Cape Town local says he wants to get the inspirational story to the homes of the sick and poor in South Africa.
The Little Optimist is a beautiful story, illustrated by Chip Snaddon, about a tiny, little boat with an enormous heart.
The launch will take place at the Two Oceans Aquarium on Wednesday and books will be on sale for R120.
For each book bought, another book will be printed and donated to children at various hospitals and townships.
Bertish explains that book translations will be available in Xhosa and Afrikaans.
I want mothers, nurses and care-givers to read this book to children in their home language.— Greg Bertish, philanthropist and big wave surfer
At the same time, Bertish will unveil the revamped Red Cross Children's Hospital on June 7, which has been repainted with his help.
