If ousted, Zuma still remains ANC President til elective conference - Brown
Political analyst and Talk At 9 host, Karima Brown said Monday was the longest night in SA politics since Mbeki was recalled all those years ago. The entire ANC leadership has descended on Cape Town and the party has called for a three-line whippery which means it's compulsory for ANC MPs to vote according to the party line. This after National Assembly Speaker, Baleka Mbete, announced that the motion of no confidence in Zuma will be held by secret ballot. Brown said the intense lobbying will probably see Winnie Mandela and the "senior back benches" making a call later on Tuesday.
People are cagey for fear of intimidation, Zuma bullies descended on MPs late last night. There is a real fear, even among those opposed to Jacob Zuma... this is unchartered water.— Karima Brown, political analyst and Talk At Nine host
Looking forward to what would happen if Zuma was voted out, Brown had this to say:
Zuma will remain ANC President until the elective conference in December, he will remain the party president and while his powers will be diminished, he will not be without recourse.— Karima Brown, political analyst and Talk At Nine host
