Lead SALead SA

Motheo Llale student hero living Ubuntu!

Written by: diannem

While a lot of us were bemoaning the cold winter months, Dainfern Student, Motheo Llale, was thinking of others. When he realised that there were thousands of individuals arriving in dainfern daily, having spent several hours already travelling, before he and his peers had even left their houses for school, he knew he had to do something to help.

He decided to set up a Tea and Coffee Pit Stop, outside of the College several mornings a week, and served hot coffee, tea and rusks to individuals as they made their way to work.

This (the initiative) is like a car; I might be the steering wheel, but my friends who helped me are the tyres, sand those we are serving are the petrol - without all of us working together, the car won;t move."

Now that Spring is finally here, Motheo has set his sights on different ways to reach out to his community.

For starters, he'll be launching JBL (Just Be Loving), an afternoon drive outside Dainfern which will arm workers leaving the area with sandwiches, juice and fruit. Secondly, teaming up with international Heart Reaxch Foundation, he and his team aim to collect sanitary products at school's, corporates and businesses around Johannesburg.

"We want to use the "Heart Rreach" drive as a competition between schools so that individuals and teams are encouraged to collect more. The more we collect, the more good we can do. We want this to be sustainable."

With thanks to his team, Mrs. Blye, Cheryl Coetzee, Mr. McKenzie, Fulvia Stoltz, Mr. Davies, Motheo is set to change the way we engage in our communities. Thank you for Leading SA!
