Kindness of a volunteer reaches homes in the Eastern Cape

Written by: Elizabeth Kgabane

LeadSA hero Aphindiwe Gidle collaborates with her friends to tackle poverty and gender-based violence (GBV) in the Eastern Cape.

Johannesburg-based Gidle says they saw that there were families struggling due to lack of employment and they wanted to help.

The team then started its initiative, Joyful Sowers. Every month Gidle coordinates telephonically with her friends in the Eastern Cape to manage the initiative that donates food parcels and other items monthly.

The initiative also mentors girls and boys as well as helps GBV survivors.
