[LISTEN] Teddy Bear clinic launches campaign for chidlren's masks

Written by: Neo Koza

The Teddy Bear Clinic has started a campaign to ensure the safety of all children in the fight against COVID-19 and has called on government and potential sponsors to provide masks for children.

Joanne Joseph speaks to Teddy Bear Clinic director Dr Shaheda Omar about the project.

This is a collaboration and collective drive but at the end of the day it is ultimately there to protect children and to minimize the transmission of the virus.

Dr Shaheda Omar, Clinical Director - The Teddy Bear Foundation

Most of our work is with children that come from a historically disadvantaged background so, realising the plight of many of these children who will not have access to this kind of safety measure, it is something that immediately came to mind in terms of families not being able to provide any kind of security weapons to protect children from contamination of the virus because they have to decide between putting bread on the table or providing a mask to their child.

Dr Shaheda Omar, Clinical Director - The Teddy Bear Foundation

We need to initiate this drive to enable children to have access to this opportunity of protecting themselves.
