The Pad Run and supporters raise R100,000 in aid of young girls

Written by: Elizabeth Kgabane

Founder of African Star Communication and visionary Farah Fortune and supporters extend a helping hand to underprivileged girls around Western Cape through her birthday campaign, The Pad Run.

The Pad Run puts young girls at the heart of their initiative.

The Pad Run is an initiative to restore dignity for young women and girls who miss out on opportunities and simple everyday tasks due to no access to sanitary ware and even less information to menstrual health.

The Pad Run and supporters have this week reached the mark R100,000 to help underprivileged young women with sanitary pads.

Fortune started The Pad Run crowdfunding campaign in May to raise funds to support girls in less fortunate communities with sanitary pads.

The Pad Run has gathered support since it started to help the young women and highlight challenges faced by many.

Fortune says the Pad Run is expanding.

I am now registering it as an NPO to help more young women and girls. As it’s garnered interest internationally and I’d like to keep it going with as much interest and distribution capabilities as possible.
